Recreation & Tourism

Many Colorado businesses rely on recreation and tourism as a critical revenue generator and they are highly sensitive to local, state, and national economic conditions. In order to benefit from the best of times, but be prepared for the worst, it is important to have good business planning, efficient operations, and opportune tax guidance.

Because western Colorado businesses and economies are heavily connected to recreation and tourism, our professionals are particularly skilled in assisting outdoor recreation, outfitting, adventure travel, and eco-tourism businesses. Our clients include golf courses/country clubs, fitness and recreation centers, sports teams, rafting, and other destination activities.

Client Stories of Real Issues

Grand Junction Rockies

Grand Junction Rockies baseball team logo

The Grand Junction Rockies hired multiple full and part-time financial operations staff when first arriving in Grand Junction to help with their business process tasks. They found that being a seasonal organization and a unique business model was a challenge for their finance staff, leaving them with inconsistencies, lack of financial controls, and unsuitable financials that were needed to develop proper budgets and reports to the organization’s management and owners.

Dalby Wendland’s Client Accounting Services’ team began providing cash management controls and consulting to help improve the financials. Today, DWC serves as their business manager providing outsourced business process functions for the GJ Rockies organization, working closely with the general manager and president with budgeting and cash flow forecasting, as well as meeting with the organization’s owners for continued financial analysis and consulting.

“Our management now concentrates on providing family-friendly fun for the Grand Junction community. We found a local, experienced partner that knows our business. Our financial back office is streamlined and efficient, allowing us to focus on the fans, keep costs affordable, and support the players so they are engaged in a great community.”
